German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen has met with Vitaliy Shabunin, head of the board at Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Action Center, to emphasize the importance of protecting civil activists from attacks and investigating these incidents.
According to Ukrinform, the diplomat wrote this on the Twitter account of the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine.
"Today we met in the open air with Vitaliy Shabunin to discuss the situation around civil society in Ukraine. Protecting activists from attacks, investigating attacks and independent justice is especially important," Feldhusen said.
Shabunin said early on July 23 that unidentified individuals had set fire to his house at night. According to him, he and his wife and children were not at home, whereas his parents managed to run out. No one was injured in the fire. Shabunin linked the incident to his professional activities.
