Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov and U.S. Charge d'Affaires a.i. in Ukraine Kristina Kvien discussed the state of bilateral cooperation in the security and defense sector.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of expanding cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, the NSDC's press service reported.
During the meeting, Danilov stressed the priority for Ukraine to build a powerful system of cybersecurity and cyber defense. “We have to move forward in this direction as fast as possible. The next wars are cyber, biological and confrontation in space, which requires the state to apply fundamentally new approaches and concepts in national security,” he emphasized.
Danilov also expressed his gratitude to the American side for the readiness to assist in the analysis of the Cyber Security Strategy, noticing that the NSDC’s approaches to developing the strategy are similar to the U.S. position in cyber defense.
In her turn, Kvien welcomed the strengthening of the coordinating role of the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity and assured of the readiness to provide comprehensive expert and practical assistance from the United States to Ukraine in this area.
She also assured of the unwavering support of Ukraine by the United States on its path of reforms and expressed the readiness to further expand bilateral cooperation.
