The Health Ministry of Ukraine initiates an increase in salaries for healthcare workers up to 50% from July 1.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated this at a briefing on May 15, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“I am convinced that our healthcare workers should receive a decent salary. Not the one they currently receive. Thus, we have a proposal to raise salaries up to 50%; this pay rise should take place from July 1. Of course, this requires appropriate amendments to the state budget, now we are completing calculations in order to coordinate these positions with the Finance Ministry and then submit them to the government. We will count on appropriate support,” Stepanov said.
He noted that an average monthly salary of healthcare workers in Ukraine is UAH 6,000-7,000, which is one of the lowest salaries among all professions and specialties.
