President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau discussed cooperation between the two countries in countering the spread of coronavirus.
The leaders of the two countries discussed this during a phone conversation on Thursday evening, the press service of the head of Ukrainian state reported.
"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau had a phone conversation on combating the coronavirus pandemic and helping the population of both countries," the report reads.
Zelensky expressed his sincere support to Justin Trudeau and his family, wishing the earliest possible recovery from coronavirus to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
The president informed the Canadian prime minister of the measures taken by Ukraine to protect against the spread of the virus. The parties noted willingness to coordinate efforts of the two countries and provide mutual support in the fight against the spread of the disease.
Justin Trudeau stressed that Canada was ready to provide Ukraine with the necessary medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
He also promised Volodymyr Zelensky to assist in the return of Ukrainian citizens from Canada to Ukraine who expressed willingness to come back to their homeland.
As reported, as of March 20, Ukraine had 26 laboratory-confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection, including three deaths.
