In 2020, the Government allocated UAH 504.458 million for the development of inclusive education in vocational schools, schools and kindergartens.
A decree determining how much money each region will receive and what they will be spent on was adopted at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 26, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reports.
“By this decree, we, in particular, amend the existing procedure for providing subventions to support persons with special educational needs. The amendments will give local authorities more powers to redistribute subventions,” Education and Science Minister Hanna Novosad explained.
According to the Education and Science Ministry, as of the beginning of 2019, more than 12,000 Ukrainian children with special educational needs studied in inclusive classes. As of the beginning of 2020, there were 19,345 students.
