President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Ukrainian military on the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine and thanked them for their conscientious performance of military, service and civilian duty, courage, heroism and self-sacrifice.
As Ukrinform reports, the congratulations were published on the website of the Head of State.
"In these difficult years for Ukraine, you daily perform the feat, defending the native land from the Russian aggressor with weapons in your hands," Zelensky stressed.
According to the President, this national holiday encapsulated the deep historical traditions of Ukrainians and is inextricably linked with the Intercession of the Theotokos and the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, the President thanked all the defenders and defendresses of Ukraine for conscientious performance of military, service and civilian duty, courage, heroism and self-sacrifice.
"We bow low to the blessed memory of the fallen and commemorate all those who died in different times of national history in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Ukrainian state," he underscored.
According to the Head of State, our faith, truth and victory as symbols of the Intercession of the Theotokos have always helped us to withstand the fight against enemies and continue to inspire us to victory.
"Let the indomitable and unconquered Cossack spirit of the defenders of the Ukrainian land of all generations be forever an inexhaustible source of inspiration for us to build present-day strong Ukraine," Zelensky stressed.
