Ukraine loses billions every year due to the activities of illegal filling stations, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov has stated at a meeting with the leadership of the Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine and representatives of the filling stations’ network, the ministry’s press service reports.
Participants in the meeting discussed the problem of illegal fuel trade and de-shadowing of the oil market.

"As a result of joint work, the activities of all illegal filling stations must be stopped. Work is underway to detect illicit trafficking in fuel. All filling stations in Ukraine will undergo checks,” the minister said.

In turn, representatives of the Association noted that they stand for fair competition within the legal field. In each region, special interdepartmental groups are working to prevent the illegal circulation of fuel.

"Our strategic objectives are to close the shadow fuel market, support full and transparent fiscalization, and create conditions for forecasting fuel prices," Chernyshov said.

The official added that the work in this direction is systematically continued at the regional level under the control of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development.

As Ukrinform reported, due to rising fuel prices in Ukraine, checks of filling stations have been launched.
