The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations have grown almost four times in Ukraine since May, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov.
“The number of people with coronavirus hospitalized over the course of the week have grown. Some 2,829 people have been hospitalized last week, 2,699 people - the week before. During the week from May 18 to May 24, there were 749 hospitalizations. The number of [COVID-19] hospitalizations have grown almost four times in our country,” Stepanov said at a briefing on August 31.

Stepanov said that Ukraine conducted 124,929 PCR tests last week, compared with 58,346 PCR tests performed during the week from May 18 to 24. According to the minister, the number of tests have grown almost 2.5 times since May 18.

Stepanov also added that the number of new COVID-19 cases reached 14,458 last week. During the week from August 10 to August 16, 10,863 new coronavirus cases were confirmed and 13,937 during the previous week.

As reported, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ukraine reached 121,215 as of August 31, including 2,141 new cases reported on August 30.
