Ukraine is considering all scenarios for the development of situation in Donbas, in particular, the likelihood of a new Russian aggression, although it intends to resolve the conflict by diplomatic means.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this live on the Freedom of Speech program on the ICTV channel late on Monday, June 1, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“We are speaking based on the fact that President Putin can resort to any action as he showed it in 2014. We and our partners know that the attempt of a dangerous rapid war by Russia was already made in 2014 in the east [of Ukraine], but, by and large, from the point of view of strategy, it ended in failure, because Russia did not achieve the prime targets of its aggression. But, of course, we must consider all scenarios of the development [of events in Donbas],” Kuleba said.
He added that, despite that, Ukraine was determined to resolve the conflict in the east through diplomatic means.
“At the same time, our Armed Forces are strong enough to repel the aggressor’s attack if it takes place,” the foreign minister stressed.
