More than 4,000 health professions in Ukraine are currently being treated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has said.
He said this live on the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV channel on May 25, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Unfortunately, indeed, there are about 20% of our health workers of the total number [of COVID-19 patients], and today it is 4,111 health workers who suffer from the coronavirus disease. If you look at the reason, in my opinion, our hospitals were not ready at all to meet such a challenge as the coronavirus disease," he said.
As of early May 26, Ukraine reported 21,584 COVID-19 cases. Some 339 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours.
