The Ukrainian people made a huge contribution to the victory over Nazism in World War II, and now nobody can take possession of that victory.
"Human feat does not have a passport, but the contribution of Ukrainians to the victory over Nazism is huge. And today nobody can take possession of the victory and say that it could have happened without Ukrainians. We must not forget, be ashamed, and give someone the feats of our Ukrainian heroes," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address from Zakarpattia region where he arrived on a working trip.

In particular, he recalled that more than 7 million Ukrainians in the anti-Hitler coalition had opposed the Nazis both in their homeland and on other continents.

The President added that Ukraine did not make a cult of war.

"Remembering all the horrors of that period, we do not make a cult of war. And this important day is not an advertising campaign, not a slogan competition, not a pompous competition of dances on a grave. The main thing to honor the feat of everyone, who approached the victory, is sincerity, not loudness. And our victory is in everyone's heart, "Zelensky stressed.

The Head of State reminded that at least 50 million people died in World War II, including more than 8 million killed and tortured Ukrainians.

Today, on May 9, Ukraine marks the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II.
