The Health Ministry will apply to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada for the allocation of additional UAH 11 billion to pay salaries to healthcare workers.
Health Minister Maksym Stepanov stated this at a briefing on May 5, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"In order to raise salaries of 435,000 medics, additional UAH 11 billion is needed. We will call on the government and then the Verkhovna Rada to introduce amendments to the state budget. We believe that our health workers should receive at least 50% increase in salary this year,” he said.

According to Stepanov, the Health Ministry will analyze the hospital infrastructure and launch the work on the creation of Ukrainian treatment protocols.

"A detailed examination of the entire healthcare infrastructure will begin on May 11 to determine the capacity and efficiency of the hospital network. On May 11, the Health Ministry together with scientists and leading experts in the field will begin developing and approving state standards for healthcare system," Stepanov said.

As reported, the second stage of the healthcare reform began in Ukraine on April 1.
