A presidential decree introducing the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol has been published on the website of the Ukrainian president.
President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the document on February 26.

"With a view to honoring the courage and heroism of Ukrainian citizens who live in the temporarily occupied territory - in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, in upholding the territorial integrity of Ukraine, on the occasion of the anniversary of a rally in Simferopol on February 26, 2014 in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, with the participation of Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and representatives of other nationalities, I declare to establish in Ukraine the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, which will be marked annually on February 26," the decree reads.

The Cabinet of Ministers was charged with ensuring the development, with the participation of representatives of state bodies, local government bodies, civil society institutions, and the approval of plans of events to be held during the Day of Resistance to the Occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.

The decree comes into force from the date of its publication.
