Ukrainian society argues on many things but agrees that Crimea is Ukraine.
"I would like to start with simple and obvious things, the axioms that really don't require any proof: there are seven days in a week, the Earth is round, and Crimea is Ukraine. Our society may argue on many things, but this issue does not raise any quarrels or doubts, here Ukrainians are one hundred percent united, and, therefore, the return of Crimea is an inalienable part of our national idea," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at the Age of Crimea forum dedicated to the Day of Crimea's Resistance to Russian Occupation, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Six years ago, Russia annexed Crimea, and we realized that the memorandums were, unfortunately, almost worthless and that the system of international law and world security is flawed and vulnerable, he added.

"Today, we make every effort to end the war in Donbas and not to lose our best Ukrainians every day. All our efforts are fostered to this, but that does not mean that the issue of Crimea is removed from the agenda or could become a price for peace in Donbas and peace in Ukraine. We will do everything to hoist the Ukrainian flag over Crimea again," the Head of State emphasized.

It is a really difficult task that cannot be solved tomorrow, he added, but there are things we must do today, primarily, to support the residents of Crimea.

Day of Crimea's resistance to Russian occupation is marked annually on February 26.

Six years ago, on 26 February 2014, a several thousand strong rally of pro-Ukrainian activists and Crimean Tatars in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and against holding an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea took place in Simferopol. About 12,000 Crimean Tatars gathered near the building of the Crimean parliament on the initiative of the Mejlis. They were holding their national flags and the flags of Ukraine. Protesters chanted: "Glory to Ukraine - Glory to the Heroes!", "Crimea is Ukraine!" To oppose them, a rally of the Russian Union party, led by a henchman of Russian occupants, Sergei Aksyonov, was organized.
