President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the US Senators for bipartisan support and told about his desire to change Ukraine’s image in the world.
“I want to thank you for the bipartisan support. We know that representatives of both US parties support Ukraine - our sovereignty, territorial integrity and help us not just in words,” Zelensky said at the meeting with US Senators Ron Johnson, John Barrasso and Chris Murphy, the press service of the Head of State reports.
The President also thanked the United States for financial, military and technical assistance.
As noted, the parties discussed the course of reforms in Ukraine and emphasized the priority of anticorruption reform and cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
“We have excellent relations with the IMF. We are doing a lot to fight corruption, we restart the law enforcement system and adopt many bills for that,” Volodymyr Zelensky assured.
The President stressed that one of his biggest tasks was to change the image of Ukraine in the world.
"We want people speaking of Ukraine to think not about corruption, but about our wonderful country with good people and an attractive investment climate," the President noted.
In particular, Zelensky told about laws that facilitate deoligarchisation, and stressed that Ukraine was preparing more than 500 state-owned enterprises for privatization.
“We are fighting against monopolies, privatization is held under open competition now. And it will also contribute to the fight against corruption in our country,” the President said.
The senators confirmed that they saw positive changes in Ukraine and the US was ready to support Ukraine on the path of these changes.
