The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned a visit by representatives of the Alternative for Germany party Gunnar Lindemann, Richard Gretzinger and Henning Zoz to the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories in Donbas.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Kateryna Zelenko said this in a comment published by the ministry's press service.
"We regard this visit as disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and neglect of the fundamental principles of international law and national legislation of Ukraine," Zelenko said.
The ministry said that these politicians had illegally visited the occupied territories of Ukraine before.
"This shows that they consciously violated the national legislation of Ukraine and international law to please Russian ideology. Such actions will be taken into account in determining legal responsibility in accordance with Ukrainian law," the ministry said.
The ministry said that Germany's democratic political parties support the efforts of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel within the Normandy Format to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty within internationally recognized borders, the Federal Government's stance on condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as distance themselves from any signs of encouragement to Russia's aggressive policy aimed at undermining Ukraine's statehood.
"We expect the leadership of the Alternative for Germany party to also condemn the illegal actions of its members and prevent similar crimes in the future," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Representatives of the German right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) arrived in occupied Luhansk on February 4 to attend an event of the "LPR" group.
