Newly appointed Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Kyrylych has presented his credentials to Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.
The diplomat wrote this on Twitter.
"I have presented my credentials to President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic," Kyrylych wrote.
He added that the presentation of credentials is not only ceremonial but also has a deep meaning.
"For Ukraine, it is a confirmation of the solid foundations of the partnership of both countries, built on a similar fate," the ambassador said.
He also said that after presenting the credentials, he laid flowers at the Taras Shevchenko monument on Ukrainian Street in Zagreb.
On December 24, 2019, President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Kyrylych as Ukraine's ambassador to Croatia.
Kyrylych arrived in Croatia on January 24 and handed over the copies of credentials to the country's foreign ministry on January 28.
Earlier, Kyrylych headed the consular support unit of the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
