Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has selected UAH 100 million bail as the measure of restraint for MP Yaroslav Dubnevych, who is suspected of misappropriating UAH 93.2 million through the scheme for the purchase of railroad switches by Ukraine's state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Prosecutor General Ruslan Riaboshapka's motion for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody has been rejected. A preventive measure in the form of bail in the amount of 100 million hryvnias has been applied," Judge Kateryna Shyroka said at a court session on Saturday, November 2.
The suspect must post the bail within five days.
On October 31, the Verkhovna Rada supported the prosecutor general's motion to prosecute, detain and arrest Dubnevych.
According to investigators, the people's deputy lobbied the allocation of funds from Ukrzaliznytsia's budget for the purchase of goods from enterprises under his control. According to the expertise, financial losses from the implementation of the scheme of open tenders for the purchase of railroad switches and spare parts for them amounted to over UAH 93 million.
Dubnevych is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of property through abuse of office).
