Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal held a meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Ukraine Vasilios Bornovas on October 17, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
“Deputy Foreign Minister for European Integration of Ukraine Olena Zerkal met with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Greece Vasilios Bornovas,” reads the report.

Ambassador Vasilios Bornovas emphasized unwavering support of Greece for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in particular, commitment to the international law as the basis of international relations.

“Both sides expressed mutual interest in strengthening cooperation in appliance of the international law to guarantee the freedom of navigation,” reads the report.

Also, the Greek diplomat noted positive role of the numerous ethnic Greek community in Ukraine in building up friendly relations with Greece.

Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal, in turn, expressed gratitude for the rehabilitation of 100 Ukrainian children from Donbas this summer in Greece.
