Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva says the country in January-July 2019 boosted farm produce exports by 34.3% year-over-year (y-o-y), to US$4.1 billion.
"Exports of agricultural products increased by 34.3%, or US$1.04 billion, in the seven months of 2019, compared with the same period of 2018, to US$4.1 billion," she wrote on Facebook on September 12.
Major buyers of Ukrainian farm produce over the period under review were the Netherlands (18% of the total shipments of agricultural products from Ukraine), Spain (13.5%), Poland (13.4%), Germany (11.1%), and Italy (10.6%). Trofimtseva says main export staples included grain (shipments totaled US$1.8 billion), vegetable oil (US$921.9 million), oilseeds (US$385.4 million), oilcake and other products of processing in the food industry (US$345.5 million), poultry (US$117.3 million), as well as fruit, nuts, and lemon zest (US$78.6 million). The official added that as of September 2, Ukraine had fully used its EU export quotas for honey, sugar, barley groats and flour, processed starch and tomatoes, grape and apple juices, maize, and wheat. The quota for creamery butter was used by 48%, while that for processed milk products by 33.3%. As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2018 increased exports of agricultural products to the EU by 8.7% to US$6.3 billion.
