German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated Oleksiy Honcharuk on his appointment as Ukraine's prime minister and assured him of support, according to the website of the German government.
"The federal government will be pleased to remain a reliable partner for you and your government in delivering key reforms in the areas of justice, decentralization and the fight against corruption," Merkel said in her letter of congratulations.
Germany wants to cooperate in close dialogue with Ukraine on many challenges facing Ukraine, she added.
"The goal remains: Ukraine can form its own future on the basis of sovereignty and full territorial integrity. Germany is also interested in further deepening bilateral economic relations with Kyiv," Merkel said, adding that she hopes for cooperation in this area.
Merkel invited Honcharuk to Berlin in the near future and wished him courage, skills, and great success.
