German and French leaders are working to organize the next summit of the Normandy Four (Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine) at the highest level in Paris in the near future. The comment came from German Chancellor Angela Merkel as she spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Bearritz, France. "We emphasized that soon, after the preparatory meeting of the advisers and foreign ministers, we want to organize a summit with the Russian and Ukrainian presidents," she said. "We have long discussed the idea that, since the previous meeting was held in Berlin, this one should be held in Paris," added Merkel.

Germany and France, Merkel says, will try to ensure the meeting takes place shortly. The Kremlin confirmed the reports that the possibility of holding a new Normandy Four summit is being studied. At the same time, "plenty of homework should be done" ahead of the meeting, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
