Ukraine is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia because of the decision of President Vladimir Putin to simplify the procedure for issuing Russian passports to residents of the occupied Donbas.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated this on the TV Channel Inter on Friday, the Foreign Ministry posted on Twitter.

“Ukrainian diplomats are actively working on creating a new wave of political pressure on the Russian Federation, as well as preparing additional Ukrainian sanctions (both sectoral and economic) against Russia,” Klimkin said.

According to the minister, Ukraine will insist on imposing not personal sanctions, as it was after the aggression in the Kerch Strait, but on sectoral and economic ones.

As Ukrinform reported, on April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that allows residents of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine to obtain Russian passports under a simplified procedure.
