The Cross Battles are back on "The Voice."

The remaining 16 singers pulled out all the stops during Monday's episode, because fan votes are more important than ever as only two saves and one steal remain in the competition.

The show kicked off with a soulful battle between two four-chair-turn singers – Team Adam Levine's L.B. Crew versus Team Kelly Clarkson's Jej Vinson – which was quickly dubbed "the best cross battle we have seen so far."

Crew took the judges to church with Ella Jenkins' "Wade in the Water," showcasing his powerhouse vocals on the hymn. "L.B. could take a lot of people down; he knows what he’s doing," Levine said.

"I didn’t expect that level of greatness from you, maybe because I associate you with Adam," Blake Shelton said, continuing his never-ending mock battle with Levine.

Vinson performed Bruno Mars' "Versace on the Floor," a nod to a fellow Filipino artist. "I am so impressed with you, Jej," Clarkson said.

"You are both very even. Both very different songs. One was a gospel hymn and one was a song you would hear on the radio today," the "American Idol" alum added, while John Legend said: "You showed everyone why you were four-chair-turns and you guys are both talented."

The battles only got harder. Team Levine's Kalvin Jarvis went up against Team Legend's Julian King. "I only got one block and I got to use it on Adam Levine. As you challenged me, I decide to let that block continue on in your nightmares," Legend quipped.

Jarvis put his own twist on Dua Lipa's "New Rules," rapping the final lyrics. King did the same on his rendition of Adele's "Hello," surprising the audience by singing a portion of the song in Spanish.

"There are some great singers in this building and we just started. … Everybody is so good," Clarkson said in confusion. "It’s not going to come down to who's talented and who has a great voice. It’s going to come down to song interpretation and selection."

Shelton told King that his performance "caught my attention from the guy sitting here with a steal." (Possible foreshadowing for the results show Tuesday?)

The country crooner has the last steal in the Cross Battles, after the other coaches used their swipes during last week's chaotic results show. Clarkson and Legend each have a save left.

Viewers will decide who moves on by voting on "The Voice" app or at NBC.com/VoiceVote. The winners of every Cross Battle will be revealed Tuesday night (9 EDT/PDT).
