Forum voor Democratie is bij de Provinciale Statenverkiezingen de grootste partij geworden. Met bijna alle stemmen geteld staat de partij van Thierry Baudet op 12 zetels in de Eerste Kamer. Ook de VVD staat op 12 zetels, maar lijkt in het aantal stemmen FvD niet meer te kunnen inhalen.
De VVD verliest daarmee 1 zetel in de Kamer. Forum voor Democratie doet voor het eerst mee aan de Provinciale Statenverkiezingen. Het is voor het eerst sinds de politieke hervormingen van 1917 dat een nieuwkomer groter is dan de drie gevestigde stromingen (confessioneel, liberaal en sociaal-democratisch).
De opkomst voor de verkiezingen was fors hoger dan in 2015. Nu ging 56 procent van de stemgerechtigden naar het stembureau tegenover 47,8 procent vier jaar geleden.
