As part of a working visit to the Republic of Turkey, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with top Turkish companies with a total investment portfolio of USD 5 billion.
During the round table meeting, the Ukrainian prime minister outlined the priority areas of cooperation between the two countries in business, investment and expressed interest in the experience of Turkish companies in public-private partnership, an Ukrinform correspondent in Turkey reports.
“The Republic of Turkey is not only an influential regional leader and partner for Ukraine, but also a strategic partner of Ukraine, with which cooperation at a high level is difficult to overestimate," Shmyhal said.
The head of the Ukrainian government noted the growth of activity between the countries, in particular, at the highest political level and assured that this active cooperation yields results in political dialogue, as well as certain results, sectoral practical areas, including business.
"Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey are united by strong economic ties and we have ambitious plans to build and renovate our infrastructure, including roads, bridges, energy and healthcare infrastructure, in other areas - water supply, sewerage, and waste disposal. Turkish companies have successful experience in these areas. Among the tools that will give us an opportunity to develop these areas are, of course, public-private partnership, these are state guarantees, we are working and have already made significant progress in the legislative field to promote such instruments in Ukraine,” Shmyhal said.
According to him, Ukraine is interested in the experience of Turkish companies in the field of public-private partnership. Among the most promising areas for investments in Ukraine, the prime minister also named the agro-industrial complex, processing industry, infrastructure, energy, IT sector.
Prime Minister Shmyhal arrived in Turkey for a two-day working visit on November 29.
