Ukraine and Slovakia have signed an agreement on the resumption of the operation of Uzhhorod International Airport, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has stated.
"Talks weren’t easy, but the outcome is positive. The agreement allowing to restore the functioning of “Uzhhorod” international airport is finalized. Grateful to [Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic] Ivan Korčok and Slovak side for constructive approach. We’ve made a good deal for our countries and development of Zakarpattya," Kuleba posted on Twitter.
As reported, Uzhhorod International Airport has not been operating since 2016, when the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia on common airspace expired. Due to the location of the airport, planes during takeoff and landing affect the airspace of a neighboring country.
