Ukraine counts on support and practical steps from Turkey in countering Russia's aggressive policies in the occupied Crimea, as well as on assistance in the release of Ukrainian political prisoners held in the annexed peninsula and in Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a briefing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kyiv on Monday, February 3, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Today we had meaningful and constructive talks. Ukraine and Turkey will continue to build a political partnership, interact within international organizations, cooperate on security issues and many other areas," Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine counts on Turkey's assistance in the process of releasing political prisoners - citizens of Ukraine, including Crimean Tatars, illegally detained in Crimea and Russia.
