The Cabinet of Ministers wants to transfer Ukrzaliznytsia for ten years to the management of Germany's largest railway operator, Deutsche Bahn AG.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said this during the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Yesterday was a very good day for Ukraine. We had a very good, very cool meeting with our friends from the International Monetary Fund. A memorandum was signed yesterday between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Deutsche Bahn. Yes, we want to give Ukrainian railways for management by Germans for ten years," he said.
According to Honcharuk, the decision on railways is "an ecosystem solution that must show that Ukraine is unprecedentedly open to the world, to new standards."
"Of course, details have yet to be agreed. Official documents have yet to be signed, but a political decision on this has already been taken, and this is already a huge step," he said.
Honcharuk added that on January 22, Ukraine also managed to "place Eurobonds on record favorable terms for Ukraine - this means that they have already started to believe our country."
