All of Taylor Swift's music now owned by man she says 'bullied' her

Taylor Swift says a man who bullied her for years now owns all the music she has ever made after he bought the record label she was signed to.

Scott "Scooter" Braun's Ithaca Holdings announced on Sunday that it is acquiring Big Machine Label Group, which released all of Swift's studio albums and owns her masters.

Swift left the label and signed with Universal Music Group in November because she says she knew that re-signing with the group that had managed her since she was 15 would only result in her not owning her future work.

Posting on Instagram with a link to a Tumblr blog, she shows a picture of Braun, with a caption that says: "This is Scooter Braun, bullying me on social media when I was at my lowest point. He's about to own all the music I've ever made."

In the blog post, the pop star wrote that she pleaded for years to own her own work but was instead given an opportunity "to sign back up to Big Machine Records and 'earn' one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in".

"I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future," she said, adding that she had to make the "excruciating choice" to leave her songs behind.

"Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums," she said.

"When I left my masters in Scott's hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words 'Scooter Braun' escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to."

She mentions the "incessant, manipulative bullying" she received "at his hands for years".

Swift ended her post looking to the future and says she thankfully "signed to a label that believes I should own anything I create".

She also advocates for artist ownership of songs and hopes that the next generation will "read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation".

"I will always be proud of my past work," she added, signing off with "sad and grossed out".

Braun's wife, Yael Cohen, responded on social media, defending her husband.

"My husband is anything but a bully," wrote Cohen.

She claims Swift was given the opportunity to own her masters but "passed".

"Scott (Scooter) was so excited to work with you," she said.

"How embarrassing this temper tantrum is because you didn't get your own way. He believes in and supports you. I sincerely hope learn to love and believe in yourself the way my husband does."

Swift also referenced a spat with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West over the recording of a private phone conversation in which Swift allegedly approves a lyric in the song Famous, suggesting West made her famous.

She also referenced the music video which shows a Taylor Swift lookalike naked.
